Yorick van Norden shows a new and contemporary sound on his new album Playing By Ear, which will be released on November 12th by Excelsior Recordings. For the first time, Yorick combines his sixties and seventies sense of melody with the magnification of the Britpop from his youth in the nineties and zeroes. The guitar sound and the 'pamphleteering' in the lyrics originate from the post-punk of the early eighties and the alien sound carpets of sound magician Tom Broshuis (ex-Mister and Mississippi) undeniably take us to the present. That is what Playing By Ear has become, his third solo album, which is characterized by much more personal lyrics and a different, fresh and timeless sound.
