Vangelis is the pseudonym of Evanghelos Odysseas Papathanasiou. This Greek composer, musician and multi-instrumentalist often uses synthesizer, piano, keyboards and other electronic instruments. In the late 60s he formed the group Aphrodite's Child with Demis Roussos. After the break-up of this group he started a solo career in which he initially made a lot of music for French films such as "La Petite Fille De La Mer" for the film L'Apocalypse Des Animaux. But his international success came after the release of the album "Spiral" in 1977 with the 9-minute "To The Unknown Man". Followed by his collaboration in the popular TV series "Cosmos" in 1980 by Carl Sagan for which the third part of "Heaven And Hell" from 1975 was used as the theme.
