Dutch psychedelic rock band The Naked Sweat Drips presents their loaded second album 'Pain In Healing'. The run-up to this album, the writing and recording process and the release of the album were surrounded by the tragic story of band member Kristian Strik. Early 2018, the guitarist was told that his treatment for a brain tumor had ended. Together with the band, Kristian wrote a final album within three months: Pain In Healing. The album was recorded in March with producer Pieter Kloos (Motorpsycho, Peter Pan Speedrock, The Devil's Blood, Birth Of Joy). On May 27, he died at the age of 24 as a result of the brain tumor. Kristian's story was shared in De Volkskrant, Lust For Life Magazine, Musicmaker Magazine, on NPO2, NPO Radio 2, 3voor12 and in several regional and local newspapers. Band member Winand Derks van de Ven also made the documentary Kristian's Prelude, which was broadcast on NPO3 and during several film festivals.
The idiosyncratic rock that The Naked Sweat Drips showed on their debut album Psycho Sister sounds more layered on Pain In Healing. Songs like Patient, The Healing, Unpleasant Return and Mighty Fine are serene and intense in which raw emotion predominates. Pain In Healing was written, recorded and mixed in a very emotional period and the album tells the story of the band both auditorily and visually. The energy and rawness during the performances complete the picture. For fans of Nick Cave, among others.
