The Haunted Youth has firmly established itself at the forefront of the Belgian indie peloton, and it doesn't look like they'll be letting go of that role anytime soon. With the release of their debut album 'Dawn Of The Freak', Joachim Liebens' (29) band reaches the climax of an exciting ride that began with debut single 'Teen Rebel' and triumph in De Nieuwe Lichting.

'Teen Rebel' was a hit and, just like its successors 'Coming Home', 'Gone' and 'Shadows', was picked up far and wide in Europe and beyond. The Haunted Youth garnered a lot of attention and superlatives from big names like Consequence and NME, even made it to 'Song of the Day' ('Coming Home') and went into heavy rotation ('Broken') on leading radio stations like KEXP and KCRW. In addition, the band can count on ample global support from Spotify, which has already featured THY on playlist covers at home and abroad several times.

Liebens has put his heart and soul into 'Dawn Of The Freak'. He not only wrote all the songs, he also took care of the production himself. The Haunted Youth musically leans towards the shoegaze and dream pop of big heroes such as Slowdive, The Cure, My Bloody Valentine and DIIV, but has a very own and instantly recognizable sound with that typical dreamy guitar, melancholic synths and velvety vocals by Liebens. A sound that appeals to both the seasoned indie connoisseur and the average festival audience, as evidenced by the live sensation that THY has become at a rapid pace and much-appreciated passages at Werchter, Best Kept Secret, numerous European festivals and an overwhelming homecoming at Pukkelpop.
