Trumpeter and Edison winner Teus Nobel will release the album Human First on Friday 6 January 2023. He will do this with his Liberty Group, with whom he previously released the albums Journey Of Man (2019) and live album Pleasure Is The Measure (2021). The focus of the album Human First lies on the composition of the same name, in which Teus wants to portray the reality check he underwent during the first Covid lockdown. This work, with a length of no less than 27 minutes, takes the listener from a musical chaos through an attempt to gain control over the new situation to a moment of musical reflection. Characteristic are the leitmotifs that, sometimes polyphonically intertwined, work their way through the different tempi and themes. This works towards an apotheosis, in which all ideas come together. The writing and production process was partly financially supported by the Association of Dutch Jazz Venues and Jazz Festivals (VNJJ) and BUMA, in honour of the Week of Jazz in 2022.
