Multi-instrumentalist, producer en artiest Shabaka (ook bekend als Shabaka Hutchings) kondigt zijn derde soloalbum Of The Earth aan. Dit is zijn eerste soloalbum dat uitkomt via zijn eigen label 'Shabaka Records', en het is volledig door Hutchings zelf geschreven en geproduceerd.
Op Of The Earth keert Shabaka terug naar zijn kenmerkende saxofoongeluid. Dit combineert hij met vakkundige elektronica en productie, en traditionele houtblaas- en percussie-instrumenten van over de hele wereld. Deze combinatie is kenmerkend voor Hutchings' diverse talenten en het algehele geluid van Of The Earth. 
Hutchings staat hoog aangeschreven om zijn werk met The Comet Is Coming, Sons of Kemet en Shabaka and the Ancestors. Ook is hij bekend van zijn twee meest recente soloprojecten: Perceive its Beauty, Acknowledge its Grace en Afrikan Culture. Als muzikant werkte hij bovendien samen met een tal van prestigieuze artiesten. Denk hierbij aan André 3000, Floating Points, Mulatu Astatke, The Sun Ra Arkestra, Lianne La Havas, Saul Williams en meer.
