The story of Royal Blood began with two lifelong friends who shared a passion and dedication for writing and performing. Long before Royal Blood were formed, they had spent years playing together in bands to half-empty bars in Brighton. Royal Blood have explored many different sides of their career, from Rock n Roll to 90s alt-rock, without compromising the essence of their identity. A key factor in Royal Blood’s music-making process is independence. This is evident on ‘Back To The Water Below’, where they self-produced an entire album for the first time. When in doubt, they remembered a piece of advice from Rick Rubin - that Royal Blood’s sound is not defined by the genre or the instruments they play, but by the unique chemistry the two friends have.
