The Rolling Stones take great pleasure in unexpectedly playing small venues when they are on tour, as they did in 1999, when the No Security Tour brought the band to London.
The band were due to play twice to a sold-out Wembley Stadium there, and to everyone's surprise they announced a 'surprise show' in Shepherd's Bush the day before.
The venue, which holds just 1,800 people, was packed that night, and saw the band perform a setlist that included classics as well as some rarely played numbers like 'Melody', 'Moon Is Up', 'I Got The Blues' and 'Brand New Car'. Sheryl Crow, who was opening for the night, joined the band later in the evening for 'Honky Tonk Women'.
