Per Ongeluk, the long-awaited debut album by Pommelien Thijs, is an honest exploration of contradictions, experiences and ambitions. It has become an album that breathes freely and celebrates the euphoria of being young without reservation.

“I never dared to admit to myself that I wanted to go for music 100%. However, I always caught myself wanting to spend every free moment I had on music and acting,” says Pommelien. “I came up with the title based on the same feeling as when I stumbled over that album. Everything I have done unconsciously in recent years clearly pointed towards this album, but it still feels accidental. I could only admit that to myself after I made a whole album about it. When I really started to see my music physically, I only realised how much fun I got from it.” That is why the title Per Ongeluk (Per Accident) nicely covers the load: it has become an album full of joie de vivre and enthusiasm, full of nice quips between style and word. However, without friction there is no shine: Pommelien does not shy away from difficult life dilemmas on Per Ongeluk. “The most important thing about my music is that there is a large dose of self-mockery. That doesn't change the fact that I wanted to sing about subjects that I really find important, and that I'm working hard on. 'Honest' is a nice word to describe Per Ongeluk."
