Paolo Nutini's new album 'Last Night In The Bittersweet' is a 70-minute epic that bridges the gap between classic rock, post-punk and hypnotic Krautrock. The record proves its worth as Nutini's deepest, most varied, most accomplished and, above all, his most rewarding set to date. The single 'Through The Echoes' is a timeless classic in the vein of Ben E. King and Otis Redding, with Nutini's vocals reminding us why he's such a successful artist in the first place. At the other end of the spectrum is 'Lose It'. The track has a haunting Motorik rhythm and is reminiscent of early 70s German bands like Can and Neu! - which is partly because Paolo is increasingly writing with the help of his bass guitar. The album was produced by Paolo Nutini together with Dani Castelar and Gavin Fitzjohn. Paolo wrote the record almost entirely himself, although members of his live band also contributed some parts.
