Born in Cameroon in 1983, Ntjam Rosie’s musical career began with the release of her critically acclaimed second album Elie in 2010, which earned her a loyal following at home and abroad. Twelve years later, the album still reflects their idiosyncratic vision of jazz and soul and is a textbook example of their own sound. Back then, she felt she had to prove herself, to be heard and seen.
At this point in her career, it was all about exploring and finding new paths, a new sound, new energy.
Since then she has been able to free herself from this way of thinking and enjoys developing a new musical aesthetic that
responds to the zeitgeist. For this she decided to join forces with the four young talents of SMANDEM. Working together to reinterpret a selection of Elle songs and bring them with jazzy accents into the contemporary soul and RnB soundscape. The result is energetic, fresh and daring.
Elie (Reworked) will be released in April 2023 and can then be seen on their release tour in clubs in the Netherlands and Germany.
