Nøhlen was recorded in the band's own studio in Hummelo during 2023. The album contains 15 songs (13 on LP) and all band members contributed to the writing process. Normaal released around 40 studio and live albums during their almost 50-year career and scored a total of 46 Top 40 hits. The current line-up of Normaal consists of original members Bennie Jolink (vocals/guitar), Ferdi Joly (guitar) and Willem Terhorst (bass), plus drummer Timo Kelder, who also produced the new album. The band has been assisted for a number of years by keyboardist Roel Spanjer and the Belgian wind players Joppe Bestevaer and Peter Delannoye.
