Nathaniel Rateliff and his Night Sweats are back with their fourth studio album 'South Of Here'. Their previous LPs earned them a loyal following and the accompanying tours gave the band a more than excellent live reputation. Where their previous album 'The Future' was heavily peppered with a thick Motown sound, the new album is characterized as a more subdued work. Of course with their raw retro-R&B sound supplemented with the wonderfully lived-in voice of Rateliff. Lyrically, that raw and lived-in quality is also reflected: lively, narrative lyrics about love, loss and hope. And oh, those uptempo tracks are so nice...
