Football is the country's favourite pastime for men and increasingly for women. There are plenty of books about football, but there were no themed albums about football. In 2012, Meindert Talma's first football album was released on Excelsior Recordings. That was 'Eenmaal Oranje', an album with songs about one-time internationals such as André Hoekstra (the King of the Kluts), Bert van Marwijk and Oekie Hoekema. Now there is 'Balsturig' - Meindert Talma's second football album. An LP with eleven football songs about figures from professional Dutch football. Eight songs about the footballers: Arjen Robben, Robin van Persie, Abe Lenstra, Johan Cruijff, Jan Blijham, Stijn Vreven, Abe van den Ban and Dick Nanninga. Two songs are about the trainers: Louis van Gaal and Fritz Korbach. And one song is about the Langeleegte / SC Veendam. Balsturig means headstrong, stubborn, headstrong, self-willed and that is a characteristic that these eleven footballers / trainers / stadium all possess to a large extent
