Na de twee recente releases – de 199-tracks tellende 'One Wayne G' en de instrumentale, tour-geïnspireerde collectie 'Five Easy Hot Dogs' – bevat 'Guitar' 12 nieuwe nummers die volledig zijn geschreven, uitgevoerd en opgenomen door Mac zelf. Dit gebeurde tussen 16 en 28 november 2024 in zijn thuisstudio in LA.
Mac schrijft erover: "Ik denk dat 'Guitar' zo dicht mogelijk bij een ware weergave is van waar ik me vandaag de dag in mijn leven bevind, als ik op papier kan krijgen."
