Het album ‘Blue World’, een LP met onuitgegeven studio-opnames met muziek die het klassieke John Coltrane Quartet in 1964 opnam voor een Canadese film ‘Le Chat Dans Le Sac’. De acht composities op het nieuwe album Blue World werden vastgelegd op 24 juni 1964. Het was de periode dat Coltrane’s unieke kijk op jazz volop in ontwikkeling was en de aanloop betekende naar zijn free-jazzperiode. En het klassieke John Coltrane Quartet – met pianist McCoy Tyner, contrabassist Jimmy Garrison en slagwerker Elvin Jones – hoogtijdagen beleefde.
