John Coffey will release their new album 'FOUR' on August 18th. It is the latest achievement of the band that made a comeback in March after a seven-year break with the single 'STEAM WALTZ', four free live shows and, to top it all off, a show in AFAS Live on December 16th.
In November 2022, the band quietly began recording 'FOUR' with producer Adrian Bushby, who previously worked with Muse, Foo Fighters and The Darkness, among others. And not entirely unimportant: he was also the engineer of the Spice Girls. The starting point for 'FOUR' was immediately clear: unlimited energy. On songs that are interspersed with 80's rock, grunge and 00's hardcore, John Coffey openly admits that they don't know either: the uncertainty of a changing world, daily worries and a society on its ass. The band emphatically calls for nuance and depth and less hard positions or polarization. No tough rock 'n' roll themes, but an insight into everyday life and what the major issues of our time do to the band members personally.
From 2002 to 2016, John Coffey, named after a character from the movie The Green Mile, rocked all venues and festivals with their unstoppable and energetic live shows. The band played all major festivals in the Netherlands, including Pinkpop, Best Kept Secret and Lowlands, but also made an impression abroad with performances at Hurricane/Southside (DE), Wacken Open Air (DE), Summer Breeze (DE), Pukkelpop (BE), Dour (BE), Boardmasters (UK), Vans Warped Tour (UK), 2000trees (UK), The Global Rock Summit and Musexpo (USA) and Sziget (HU). John Coffey not only rocked all venues in the Netherlands, but also toured in the UK, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Czech Republic. The band released three albums: Vanity (2009), Bright Companions (2012), The Great News (2015), for which John Coffey received an Edison for Best Rock Album, and an EP, A House for Thee (2016).
