The title of Jaime Wyatt ’s ‘Felony Blues’ is a nod to records like David Allan Coe ’s ‘Penitentiary Blues’ and Johnny Cash ’s ‘Live From Folsom Prison’ . The largely autobiographical collection of songs is filled with tales of marital romance, prison songs and honky tonk lamentations. Arrested at an early age for robbing her drug dealer, she served eight months in prison followed by six months of treatment. Musically, you might think of a more twangy Fleetwood Mac or a collaboration between Linda Rondstadt and the Rolling Stones . A striking character with an old soul and a voice like a force of nature, she is supported by the likes of Ted Russell Kamp , Sam Outlaw and Freddy Bokkenheuser , Ryan Adams ’ current drummer.
