After learning a lot from previous albums (produced by Wouter Vlaeminck) and the recent EP, they wrote, composed, rehearsed, recorded, produced and mixed everything themselves. Jean offered them his studio in Hasselt, they let friends use some cool equipment, they rented an apartment in Hasselt for a week and recorded the third album live together. They recorded all the instruments in 2 days. Yoran, the band's live sound engineer, came over to help, together with a handful of other friends they work with. We can say that all these people who helped them became their family. A family of people they have been working with for the past 10 years. THE GURU GURU has been happily dealing in deeply expressive art rock since 2012, feverishly combining angular guitars with eccentric polyrhythms, all complemented by erratic and unhinged vocals. Drawing influences from Queens of the Stone Age, Radiohead, The Mars Volta, SOULWAX, The Jesus Lizard & Andy Kaufman, the indie-math-psycho-noise rulebook is torn apart, resulting in jagged tracks that somehow seem to evolve into meandering earworms. The band defies genre definition.
