In 1977, Wout Pennings came into contact with his younger brother Frank Boeijen, via the sound engineer of Pennings hard rock band Country Road, Gerard Boeijen. At the end of that year, they recorded the album Frank Boeijen and Woutje Pennings together in the Crossroad Studio in Oss. Despite contacts at the radio, the record was never played. A year later, the album ended up, via Pennings, at record company CNR. They liked it and gave the duo the opportunity to re-record the album, including four new songs, under production supervision of Rob de Nijs. The title was shortened a bit: Boeijen and Pennings. Well-known artists such as Jan Rietman and Jody Pijper were responsible for the keyboards and background vocals. The arrangements were by Hans Hollestelle. A unique collaboration that resulted in a beautiful record.
