Suavemente' is the debut studio album by New York City-born Puerto Rican Elvis Crespo. This album brought Crespo international recognition in the merengue market. It was the first merengue record to be certified gold in the United States. The single "Suavemente" was a huge hit and eventually helped him earn Billboard magazine's Best Male Tropical/Salsa Album of the Year. His album was certified platinum in the Venezuelan and Central American markets and gold in Chile. The album spawned three more hit singles: "Tu Sonrisa", "Luna Llena" and "Nuestra Canción".
