Pressure Makes Diamonds is an album in two parts, first a hard, then a soft album. Part 1, which rocks and is uptempo, has the subtitle The Year Of The Snake and was released in November 2018. Part 2, which slows down and moves with ballads, and has been given the subtitle Pompadour Hippie, was released in February 2019. The two halves together form one vinyl album. Vera's record, the third full-length album on Excelsior Recordings, was produced by Frans Hagenaars. Danny Vera: 'Not in Nashville , but in Wisseloord in Hilversum, analogue on tape, including noise. You can sometimes still hear the tape running after a number. I think that's so beautiful.' Part of the secret of the powerful sound lies in the capable hands of Vance Powell, who does operate from the country Mecca.
