The album contains ten intense stories of people who are determined not to be broken by harsh circumstances. The self-produced album is one of Damien Jurado’s most open works and is inspired by the dry sound of records like Lou Reed’s ‘The Bells’ and Paul McCartney’s ‘Ram’. Jurado creates his own Twilight Zone, a twilight zone between light and shadow, a dimension of imagination, of half-remembered dreams and people who reach out to cross the border between heartbreak and wholeness. Jurado knows this area well and knows how to whisper the secret words at the right moment.

“All is not lost/Even if you're without a direction. Just stick around until the light pushes into the darkness” Damien promises – or admits.
