Arirang’ is de titel van het meest geliefde volkslied van Korea, een onofficieel en sentimenteel volkslied dat al generaties lang weerklank vindt. De oorsprong ervan zou eeuwen teruggaan. Wat het woord precies betekent is niet duidelijk, maar ‘Ari’ lijkt etymologisch op het Koreaanse woord voor ‘mooi’ en ‘rang’ op ‘geliefd’. Van de folksong zijn meer dan 3500 versies opgenomen, het heeft dus veel betekenis in Korea en nu, met de titel van de comebackplaat van BTS, nog meer.
