"Brand New Life" is Younger's second album for Impulse! Records. She won the Edison Jazz International in 2022 for her first album "Somewhere Different". This record features original compositions alongside and in close connection with a selection of interpretations of pieces by Dorothy Ashby, the jazz harpist who had a great influence on Younger. She herself represents a generation of jazz musicians who grew up in an era in which hip hop was strongly present in American popular culture. On "Brand New Life" she imbues harmony, rhythm and melody with influences from hip hop, rock and pop music.
