Great Big World is the successor to Sisters, the album that The BlueBirds made with Elske DeWall, released in 2018. For Krystl and Rachèl Louise, their second album represents a journey of discovery to a new form of The BlueBirds, one that ultimately expressed itself in a collective of all kinds of female artists. 'The Netherlands has so many special women that we all wanted to have in The BlueBirds. That's how we came up with the idea: writing songs together about themes that are recognizable to all of us.'
