Founded some twenty years ago in Portland, Oregon, Blitzen Trapper is a typical band that continues to evolve album after album. From the uncomplicated Americana folk of their early work to the psychedelic indie folk of 'Holy Smokes Future Jokes' from 2020. That record was showered with rave reviews. Mojo aptly described the sound: as if The Beatles recorded an album in Big Pink. The line of this record is continued on '100's Of 1000's, Millions Of Billions', of which the single Hello Hallelujah was already a very nice foretaste. Frontman Eric Earley lyrically harks back to his fascination with Buddhism, dreams and rebirth. Add to that a production that seamlessly matches these lyrics and you get an intoxicating whole: an intimate mix of folk and psychedelia. The dreamy melodies are reinforced by the warm layers of electric guitars and synthesizers that culminate in the album closer Bear's Head At The Cove. - Bob van der Staak
