'Rainier Fog' is the third album in a row that Alice In Chains records with producer Nick Raskulinecz and engineer Paul Figueroa (Ghost, Deftones, Rush). The first new album in five years was recorded in their hometown Seattle, something they hadn't done for 20 years. The album is therefore a tribute to that city. They recorded in Studio X, the same studio where they recorded their self-titled album in 1995. The album was mixed by Joe Barresi (Queens of the Stone Age, Tool).
