The Doobie Brothers: A reunion of legendary proportions!

On Friday, June 6, 2025, The Doobie Brothers' long-awaited new album Walk This Road will be released! After more than five decades of musical innovation and hits, the band proves their relevance once again with a record that sounds both familiar and surprising.
For the first time in 45 years, Michael McDonald is fully involved in a studio album by The Doobie Brothers. Together with Tom Johnston, Patrick Simmons and John McFee, he forms the core of this project. The production was in the hands of John Shanks, who previously produced the album Liberté (2021). The recordings took place in the winter of 2024 in Shanks' studio in Los Angeles, where each songwriter worked individually with the producer before the songs were worked out together.
Walk This Road features ten new songs that thematically revolve around healing , enlightenment, and finding the right path. The title track , featuring guest vocals from soul legend Mavis Staples, radiates a message of hope and togetherness. Other standout tracks include “Call Me” and “Lahaina,” the latter a collaboration with Mick Fleetwood, Jake Shimabukuro, and Henry Kapono, and was released in support of victims of the 2023 Maui wildfires.
A journey through genres
The diversity of the band members is evident in the musical variety on the album. From honky-tonk and country to Southern pop, folk and melodic rock, Walk This Road offers a wide range of styles. As McDonald puts it, "One of the great things about our live shows was that you never got bored with one style of music, because everything was a little bit different."
