Mazzy Star: Twee dromerioge klassiekers terug op vinyl!

Mazzy Star: Two dreamy classics back on vinyl!

For lovers of dreamy, melancholic indie rock, there is good news! On July 25th, two absolute classics by the legendary band Mazzy Star will be released again on vinyl: 'She Hangs Brightly' and 'Among My Swan'. A perfect opportunity to rediscover these iconic albums or to get them for the first time, because the original vinyl editions are hard to come by and very expensive!

Mazzy Star, formed in the late 80s, is a band characterized by their unique, atmospheric sound. The core of the band is formed by the collaboration between singer Hope Sandoval and multi-instrumentalist David Roback . Together they created an oeuvre that balances between psychedelic folk, shoegaze and dream pop, often described as 'dream pop' or 'slowcore'.

What makes Mazzy Star so special is the enchanting voice of Hope Sandoval. Her whispering, almost thin vocals, combined with the echoing guitars and melancholic melodies of Roback, create an intimate and often hypnotic sound.

'She Hangs Brightly' (1990): The Enchanting Debut

Originally released in 1990, ' She Hangs Brightly ' is Mazzy Star's debut album and immediately set the tone for their signature sound. The album is a masterpiece of atmosphere and subtlety, filled with melancholic gems such as 'Blue Flower' and the title track.

'Among My Swan' (1996): The Conclusion of a Golden Age

After the commercial success of ' So Tonight That I Might See ' (with the world hit 'Fade Into You', previously re-released on vinyl) from 1993, Mazzy Star released ' Among My Swan ' in 1996. This album marks the last release before a long hiatus for the band. 'Among My Swan' builds on the sound of its predecessors, but with a slightly more subdued and often vulnerable undertone. Songs like 'Flowers in December' and 'All Your Sisters' are beautiful examples of Hope Sandoval's evocative vocals and David Roback's subtle guitar work.
