A musical veranda full of stories
Eight years after their Grammy - winning collaboration on TajMo ( 2017), blues icons Taj Mahal and Keb' Mo' reunite for a new musical adventure : Room On The Porch . This successor will be released on May 23, 2025 via Concord Records and is an ode to the richness of the African- American music tradition, brought to you by two masters in their genre.
The album opens with the title track " Room On The Porch", an inviting track featuring Taj, Keb' and award -winning singer -songwriter Ruby Amanfu on vocals . The addition of Jenee Fleenor's fiddle gives the song an irresistible Cajun vibe.
The new record has 10 tracks. Of those, six are original co- compositions, one song by Taj , two by other writers and a classic blues cover. That cover is the vintage blues classic " Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out".
Taj Mahal shines with his lived-in voice and plays on this record, among other things ukulele and dobro . Also Keb' Mo' doesn't make it easy for himself with just a guitar, he also plays banjo, mandolin, steel drum, harmonica and percussion.
Room On The Porch is yet another beautiful collaboration between these two blues legends ; it is a fusion of cultural influences and genres that only these two iconic artists can produce. Listening to the album is like taking a seat on their porch: "Come on up, there's room on the porch for everyone"
