DI-RECT Dutch ambassador Record Store Day 2025!

DI-RECT is this year's Dutch ambassador for Record Store Day. Especially for this occasion, an exclusive 7 inch single will be released that will be available for free on this day for the first 6,000 RSD customers in the Netherlands. It concerns a so-called split single with the Belgian ambassador of Record Store Day: Pommelien Thijs. Record Store Day is celebrated on Saturday 12 April and takes place in over 120 independent record stores in the Netherlands, including of course Bob's Vinyl! 
 
Last Friday they played during the fourteenth and final night of De Vrienden van Amstel LIVE in Rotterdam Ahoy. Those shows started right after they finished their sold-out club tour of twenty-four shows. Before they dive into their biggest dream so far – three shows in De Kuip on June 12, 13 and 14 – they make time to do something that has also been on their wish list for a long time: becoming an ambassador for Record Store Day. 
 
Spike van Zoest, guitarist of DI-RECT: “We think it’s really cool to be an ambassador for Record Store Day this year as DI-RECT because we all have something to do with the physical side of music in our own way. For me, it’s true that I grew up with my parents’ records. They made me fall in love with music and the guitar. I’m trying to pass that on to my children now. I still buy a lot – especially LPs. Sometimes the cover is enough to arouse my curiosity. A visit to a record store is always a musical adventure.” 
 
Split single with Pommelien Thijs 
The first 6,000 customers who make a purchase in one of the participating record stores on Saturday 12 April will receive a unique 7 inch vinyl single to take home: a split single by DI-RECT, together with the Belgian ambassador of Record Store Day: Pommelien Thijs. A double A-side. That both artists like to work together was already evident in recent weeks at the shows of De Vrienden van Amstel LIVE, where they performed two songs together. 

The 7 inch single will be available at 170 stores in the Benelux during the record store holiday on Saturday 12 April. Both artists will also be seen at several stores in both the Netherlands and Belgium during Record Store Day. In addition to the free RSD single from both ambassadors, DI-RECT will also release a special RSD edition: a live EP from the Sphinx club tour with five songs that will not be released digitally.

Record Store Day is the international holiday of record stores. A unique day that takes place in record stores all over the world. Many exclusive releases appear that day that are only available in the participating stores. Many shop floors also change into stages for intimate performances and signing sessions. On Saturday April 12, Record Store Day will be celebrated in the Netherlands for the sixteenth time in more than 120 record stores. Artists such as Within Temptation, Froukje, Floor Jansen, DeWolff, Spinvis, De Staat and Eefje de Visser preceded DI-RECT as Dutch Record Store Day ambassador.
