The album harks back to Ed's singer-songwriter roots and is written out of personal grief and hope, showing him at his most vulnerable and honest. Writing '-' was always on his agenda, but a number of life-changing events that have taken place in the past year of Ed's life have given the songs and the process of making them a whole new meaning.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e For the writing and production of '-', Ed teamed up with Aaron Dessner (The National). After being introduced by their mutual friend Taylor Swift, the pair began shaping the album in February 2022.
